Beta tester guide

Getting in
- Open the invite link from your email (
app.modernretire.com/invite/accept?token=…). - Sign in or create an account when prompted (required during closed beta).
- Confirm access: Beta badge near the logo (when enabled), or Beta Tester in the account menu. Premium-grant invites show Premium instead.
If you see “Early access by invitation”
- You may have opened the app without an invite link, or your account is not promoted yet.
- Request early access, or reply to your invite email.
- Already have an account? Sign in on the planner — you still need a beta grant on your account.
First-time setup
New accounts may see an 8-chapter guided setup (basics, income, expenses, accounts, investments, benefits, healthcare, real estate). Use Save and finish later to resume from the dashboard. In guided mode, Projections unlock after Basics, Expenses, and Accounts; Plan analysis after Benefits and Healthcare. Switch to full planner anytime from the account menu to skip staged locks.
Two-week exercise checklist
- Profile: basics (one state for all years — use Compare to test a move), income, expenses, benefits (SS and any gov pension)
- Dashboard: projection and cash flow
- Plan analysis: Run Optimizer or SS Optimizer; Tax Plan; Compare for Roth variants or another state
- Monte Carlo and PDF export — unlocked for beta testers (premium-class access)
- Cloud sync: edit a field → wait for ✓ Synced → reload. Guests stay Local only. Free signed-in accounts get cloud backup for the active plan plus up to 3 named scenario snapshots; beta testers get premium-class limits — unlimited saved compare scenarios (plus 4 Roth variants in Compare).
Report bugs
Reply to your invite email or use Beta feedback in the app menu. Include:
- Browser and operating system
- Steps to reproduce
- Screenshot or screen recording
- Whether sync showed ✓ Synced or an error
